MARIANN COORDINATING COMMITTEE(MCC)

CDP is a community based development programme that is a local
initiative to create a healthy community for children and youth through
increasing their competency, confidence and improving their quality of life. We
work with our beneficiaries and target groups to attain a healthy community in
Mariannridge.

Early Childhood Development includes baby development talks and education at the local clinic by UKZN OT students, training and support of ECD facilitators and includes assessments and interventions for children at ECD level.

Literacy Intervention includes storytelling and reading for Grade 4 – 5 twice per week, referral to assessments and therapy by UKZN OT students, hosting the Spelling Bee annually

Youth Development includes the personal development and psychosocial support for youth aged 13 – 17years, access to information and training, support for further study and career development

Food security includes supporting over 40 households with development of doorstep or communal vegetable gardens through provision of seedlings and education about food security

Civic literacy includes hosting a 12 session study circle, Civic literacy workshops and campaigns that promote Civic participation and community Activism
